Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 school year!

I have taught fifth grade here  at the North Hanover School District for over fifteen years.  I have truly enjoyed my experiences over the years. I look forward to the opportunity to work with your children and promise them the best of my experiences, both in and out of the classroom, as well as my  ongoing professional development.

Prior to my family's move to the area, we lived in Germany where my husband served in the United States Air Force.  I volunteered at the Department of Defense Dependent School (DODDS) on Spangdahlem Air Base, where I eventually began working full time.   My passion has always been children and laying the ground work for them to be independent and successful.

The classroom environment is very important to me.  I want my students to feel safe, comfortable, and energized to expand their learning into new areas.  I anticipate mistakes, suggestions, and questions.   I expect their best behavior and effort, not just in the classroom, but the UES building.  We will have lots of fun learning our world in social studies, conquering math problems, and discovering hidden talents in both reader's and  writer's workshop. It will be a challenge at times, but one that with your support and guidance at home, will certainly lead to a successful future for your child.

Remember..."The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.  Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. "
