The Arch

A Roman arch is a weight bearing arch built of brick, first used in antiquity, now used in construction everywhere throughout the world. Although the Romans did not invent the technique, they were the first to use it widely, and most famously in the aqueduct system. The Romans used an even number of rectangular bricks, and an odd number of trapezoidal bricks to build their arches, using a sand mixture for mortar.

Slope Intercept: The graph of a linear function is a straight line. Although the graphs are all straight lines, the slant or steepness of the lines vary from graph to graph. The slant or steepness of a straight line is referred to as the slope of the line. (https://www.ck12.org/c/algebra/slope/lesson/Finding-the-Slope-of-a-Line-MSM8/?referrer=concept_details)

Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD)

https://www.geogebra.org/m/UaMEvgyH

Interquartile Range (IQR)

How do you find the IQR?

-We can find the interquartile range or IQR in four simple steps:

  1. Order the data from least to greatest.

  2. Find the median.

  3. Calculate the median of both the lower and upper half of the data.

  4. The IQR is the difference between the upper and lower medians.

-Example

      1. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

      2. Median of the data set: 5

      3. A. 2 3 4 is the lower half of the data- below the median of the entire data set.

          - Median of the lower data: 3

           B. 6 7 8 is the upper half of the data- above the median of the entire data set.

          - Median of thr upper data: 7

       4. IQR: 7-3: 4
