📬 Home–School Communication
At Upper Elementary School, we believe communication is a shared responsibility and a critical part of your child’s success. We are committed to maintaining strong, respectful, and responsive partnerships with all families.
🧠Who to Contact First
When you have a question or concern, please follow this communication chain:
-
Start with your child’s teacher – they are the best first point of contact for academic or behavioral questions.
-
If further clarification or support is needed, reach out to the school counselor, case manager (for students with IEPs), or school social worker.
-
If the concern remains unresolved, please contact the building principal. If requesting a meeting please schedule with the school secretary.
This approach ensures issues are handled as efficiently and supportively as possible.
đź•’ Response Expectations
-
Teachers and staff will respond during school hours and within 1–2 school days. Please note that staff are not expected to respond during evenings, weekends, or school holidays.
-
Urgent or time-sensitive matters should be directed to the main office by phone.
✉️ Ways We Communicate with Families
-
Genesis Parent Portal: Primary platform for grade reporting and school announcements.
-
School Email: Teachers and staff use email for individualized communication. Contact info is listed on the school website.
-
Newsletters & School Updates: Look out for periodic emails or printed notices with school-wide news, calendar updates, and upcoming events. The principal newsletter is posted once a week during the school year.
-
District Website & Social Media: Visit www.nhanover.com for Board Policies, district news, and school events.
🧑‍🏫 Communication During the School Day
-
To minimize disruptions to learning, teachers may not be available to check or respond to email until after students are dismissed.
-
Please avoid using email to report same-day changes in dismissal or emergencies—call the main office instead.
