Lockers

Lockers are provided by the school as a convenience for students to store books, supplies, and personal belongings. All students are expected to:

  • Learn and remember their locker combination

  • Keep their locker clean and organized

  • Ensure that food, valuables, and prohibited items are not stored in lockers

While lockers are assigned to individual students, they remain the property of the school. Therefore, students should not expect total privacy regarding locker contents. The school reserves the right to inspect lockers if there is reasonable suspicion that a locker contains items that violate school rules or pose a safety concern.

In accordance with Board of Education Policy and New Jersey law, any search will be conducted only when there is a valid reason, and will be carried out in a manner that respects the student’s rights and dignity. Whenever possible, searches will be conducted in the presence of the student and a staff witness. No intrusive searches of a student’s person or intimate belongings will be conducted except in cases of immediate safety concerns, and such searches will always be conducted by a staff member of the same gender.

Students and families will be reminded at the beginning of each school year that lockers may be inspected at any time by school administrators. The goal is to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all.
