Focus and Intervention (FIT)

At UES, the Focused Instructional Team (FIT) plays a vital role in supporting student success. Also known as the FIT Team, this group of dedicated educators works closely with students and teachers to ensure all learners have the opportunity to meet or exceed grade-level standards.

🎯 Purpose & Support

Throughout the school year, students are monitored through multiple checkpoints to identify those who may benefit from:

  • Additional small group instruction

  • Targeted intervention

  • Skill-based reinforcement or enrichment

Once identified, students receive personalized support through the FIT program. This may occur:

  • Within the homeroom classroom, in collaboration with the general education teacher

  • Or in a separate, focused instructional setting for more individualized attention

🤝 Collaboration with Teachers

The FIT Team works hand-in-hand with classroom teachers, offering:

  • Ongoing data analysis

  • Strategic lesson planning support

  • Insightful observations to guide instruction

This strong partnership ensures interventions are timely, responsive, and aligned with each student’s learning needs.

🔁 Integral to the I&RS Process

The FIT Team is also a key component of the school’s Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) process. They help monitor students' progress, provide documentation of supports, and contribute to individualized action plans developed for students who require more intensive interventions.
