Physical Education at UES is an essential part of our whole-child approach to learning. Our program is aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for Health and Physical Education at each grade level, ensuring age-appropriate skill development, fitness education, and teamwork.

🗓️ PE Schedule

  • Students attend PE twice a week with their homeroom class

  • Lessons are taught by certified physical education teachers in our gymnasium or outdoor fields

🎯 Focus Areas

The PE curriculum promotes:

  • Gross motor development and physical fitness

  • Teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship through structured gameplay

  • Self-regulation, perseverance, and social interaction in both competitive and cooperative settings

Each unit is designed to challenge students physically while helping them build confidence, collaboration skills, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.

🏐 Rotating Units Include:

  • Volleyball, Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, Wiffleball, Hockey, Pickleball, Badminton etc. 

  • Cooperative games and fitness circuits

  • Seasonal and skill-building activities

  • Field Day: Held near the end of the school year, this high-energy event brings together students for fun competitions, teamwork, and celebration of physical activity

  • Student vs. Staff Games: A student favorite! These friendly competitions offer a fun and spirited way to build school culture and community
