At Upper Elementary School, student safety and a smooth start to the day are top priorities. Please review the following procedures carefully and help us ensure all students arrive and depart safely and on time.
Arrival Schedule & Expectations
Arrival Timeline
Upon entering the building:
-
Students should go directly to their classroom or cafeteria and remain seated quietly until classroom doors open at 7:50 a.m.
-
7:50 a.m.: Classroom bell rings. Students may enter classrooms and begin morning routines.
-
7:58 a.m.: Two-minute warning bell signals students to finish up at lockers and prepare for the day.
-
8:00 a.m.: Homeroom begins with the Pledge of Allegiance and morning announcements.
Late Arrivals
-
Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. is considered tardy and must be signed in by a parent or guardian at the main office.
-
Attendance records will reflect late arrivals and excessive tardiness may result in a parent conference.
Dismissal Procedures
-
The school day ends at 2:45 p.m. Students exit the building through the front doors and board buses or meet designated pickups.
-
Half-Day Dismissal: 11:50 a.m.
-
Emergency Dismissals: Communicated via district alerts and emails.
Early Dismissals
-
Students may not leave school grounds between 8:05 a.m. and dismissal without being signed out by a parent or approved emergency contact.
-
If a student has a medical appointment or needs to leave early, please call the main office directly.
-
Do not leave early dismissal requests on teacher voicemail or email—they may not be checked in time.
Drop-Off & Temporary Parking Guidelines
To support a safe and orderly arrival/dismissal process:
-
All car riders must be dropped off using the designated Drop-Off Loop, located behind the flagpole at the far end of the building.
-
Do not drop students off in the parking lot or along the roadway, as it poses serious safety concerns.
-
No parking or standing is permitted in the Fire Lane at the front of the school at any time.
